Was accident with Hillsborough County Deputy caused by Toyota Sudden Acceleration?

Three teenagers were injured, one of them critically, in a crash with a Hillsborough County Deputy’s cruiser.  The accident happened outside Citrus Park mall on Friday.  The teen’s car was stopped at a red light at the Gunn Highway exit of Citrus Park Mall.  Suddenly, the car accelerated for an unknown reason and smashed into the side of the police cruiser.

It sounds like this accident may have been caused  by “sudden acceleration” problem we’ve seen in Toyota vehicles.  The car driven by the teen was a 2007 Toyota Corolla.  If this is the case, Toyota should be held responsible for the injuries caused by the accident.
